From tree, to pail, to tray! Apples galore this time of year! Someone should write an ode!
Paging John Keats:
"With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more..."
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more..."
-from To Autumn
Who wouldn't want to quote John Keats' words while picking apples from the tree? 'Tis the season for u-picks and my favorite place to go is Gabriel Farm in Sebastopol. I had a plentiful visit there a few weeks ago and am eager to go again before Halloween or at least Thanksgiving. Considering I've been trying to eat an apple a day, I might need to go more than once!
How beautiful! I love the images, so rustic and seasonal. The quote from Keats was perfect.
ReplyDeleteI recognize that lovely little bowl holding the toasted almonds...it takes me right back to graduation from Bates! Maybe someone should write an ode to Rachel...
ReplyDeleteI want this.
ReplyDeleteI recently posted the same Keats poem on my blog. Love it! I like your blog!
